Joe is the creator of the Messengerville [now the Messenger Institute for Media Accuracy] website which contains Joe's exhaustive treatment of the Toronto City proposal to license the messenger industry, just about every english language print article that features messengers and an extensive archive of messenger fanzine articles. For a while in 1998, he also conducted a one man rebuttal campaign against media slander of messengers. It is typical of him that he was not present at the awards ceremony, and the next day, trophy in hand, asked me who he should thank for the trophy. I told him that we should be thanking him and that the trophy was a way of showing our gratitude.
