As I said before, you cannot have a messenger community without a mesenger championships. In the year 2000, the City of Boston made it impossible for the Boston messengers to host the CMWC. There very nearly wasn't a CMWC 2K. John Kenda, who had been a key worker in DC 98, and who had been instrumental in swinging the vote to bring the CMWC to Boston, refused to lie down, and the Philly BMA, possibly unaware of the full horror that is organising a CMWC on short notice, offered to host. A monumental effort of organisation by the Philly BMA and Kenda resulted in the (mostly) sucessful conclusion that was CMWC Philly 2000. Because of them the chain was unbroken.
