Sister City 2023

what's up worldwide fam. I reached out on the Sister City group on Facebook but it seems posts have to be approved before they show up on the group page. Clem from Amsterdam also reached out to the CMWC page asking if we've been thinking about Sister City for this year so everything seems to be perfect timing.

With that said, WHATS GOODY?!? What's the plan this year with the Sister City alleycats? We've finally got the dates down for Yokohama what's the next move

  • Here are the old instructions from Montreal to Riga:

    https://sistercitycat.wordpress.com/42-2/

Basically NY has to collect entry fees (traditionally 10$) via paypal, make a sticker and send a bunch to each signed up city. There’s a deadline for sign ups so the cities can be paired, then a deadline for the money to be sent to Yokohoma.
The cities then exchange prizes and set a date for their races/events.
Then NY makes a raffle to decide which city wins flights to CMWC, the more money raised means more chances to win the prize!

  • Thank you so much for this info, it's a bit difficult trying to find any info! I'm getting started on a site now where we can all keep track of cities, etc. I'll have something set up ASAP so we can get the ball rolling.
  • I'm just going to have to post this everywhere but hopefully its clear enough and all money and questions going to one place. Just copying and pasting from Instagram (search for @cmwc.nyc or @nycbma) :

While the world is slowly burning, Sister City Cat makes its return this year to raise funds for Yokohama, the host city to @cmwc2023 . NYC being the last city to host CMWC, will be handling the pairing of cities and the donation of money to @jpbma . As usual, all cities interested in participating will be signed up, then paired at random with their “Sister City”. The paired Sister Cities will discuss plans to host an alleycat on the same day if possible, themes for a race, prize exchanges, merch sales, raffles, benefit shows and so on to try and raise the most money for Yokohama.

As an incentive to raise the most money, each city participating will be entered in a raffle to win $1000 USD towards a trip to CMWC 2023 in Yokohama. The amount raised by each city will determine how many entries they will have in the raffle. Each city participating will pay an initial $10 fee through PayPal to paypal.me/nycbmafunds (nycbmafunds@gmail.com) that will go to one raffle entry. There will be an additional entry to the raffle for every $200 raised. The more money raised, the more chances your city wins.

The deadline to sign your city up for Sister City Cat 2023 will be May 31. All events must be completed and money sent over to @nycbma by June 30. Total amount of money raised and winners of raffle will be announced early July. NYC is honored to keep the Sister City Cat tradition going. The worldwide messenger community is looking forward to @cmwc2023 in Yokohama and it’s time we all get together and show our support! For any questions please DM @cmwc.nyc or @nycbma on instagram. Reach us by email at nycbmafunds@gmail.com or cwmcnyc@gmail.com
