Hey everyone, we (the IFBMA council members) are in contact with Victor, who has come forward on behalf of NYC and proposed a bid for CMWC 2022 to be held early September 22. We are not here to decide whether this event should go ahead or not but we would like to spread this proposal further than a Facebook post on this page so the wider messenger community can be made aware of it and asks questions or voice their concern, like they would at an open forum. Important Announcement Regarding CMWC 2022
STATEMENT FROM THE IFBMA After several conversations with the organizers of CMWC Bogotá, it has been decided that it will be impossible to hold the Cycle Messenger World Championships in Bogotá for the foreseeable future. The messenger community in Chicago has volunteered to throw an event in 2022. The team had already been working towards a bid and feel prepared to host the world with only one year’s lead time. Given the logistical challenges of holding a bidding and voting process online, as well as the urgency of choosing a suitable host city, the IFBMA sees fit to grant Chicago the bid. As the new decennia is upon us, the international messenger family will gather in Basel to celebrate the 25th European Cycle Messenger championships. Since the last time the circus visited our fair city, a lot of things have changed in the industry and the world at large. Reflecting these changes, we have decided to dedicate a whole day for cargo racing and cultural activities on Saturday. The spraying of sparkling wine from the hands of the newly crowned double-champions Jimmi “Jumbo” Bargisen and Clara “Orca” Felis from the top of the podium marked the official end of the 26th Cycle Messenger World Championships that took place in R?ga, the capital of Latvia, on August 22-26, and the beginning of a lasting set of memories. The friends gained and bonds built during this annual reunification of the messfam, as the messenger community calls itself, are born of a special, Latvian flavour. *BMA Inclusive championships.
These are the new guidelines for creating gender inclusive championships. These have been officially adopted by the IFBMA by a vote in Riga and will be implemented at all CMC’s going forward. We, (the members of the *BMA and the IFBMA) will be available to organizers on an ongoing and involved basis to assist in this implementation. CMWC Websites
Over the years we see websites come and go. This includes CMWC sites also. As they are a reference and history of messengers. A few years ago it was brought up at open forum and on the IFBMA Facebook wall that sites should be backed up and kept as reference and a call for previous sites was made… no sites were submitted. messengers.org is where the various main events can and should be backed up including CMWC, NACCC and ECMC and other top level area events.
